In creating paintings, sculpture, and mixed media works, Whipple experiments with various art processes and is especially interested in developing beautiful surfaces. He graduated from the University of Central Florida, and studied with David Passalaqua, Head of Illustration at Parsons School of Design. An experienced art director, graphic designer, illustrator, and muralist, Whipple has been a fulltime artist for the last several years. His simplified, classical forms have been described as “warm, quiet, universal ideas” and his paintings as “hypnotic.” The artist is considered a master of asymmetrical balance.
Whipple’s whimsical, mixed media sculptures often begin with found objects. “I like to browse through my extensive collection of found objects, searching for odd combinations of items. The relationships that happen between the objects visually conjure up ideas that drive the work to completion.” These assemblages also incorporate elements the artist has sculpted.
